Presentation of the new robotic technologies at a global level in Trikala, Greece

The Municipality of Trikkaia has made an exciting announcement regarding the future of automated vehicles. The city is partnering with e-trikala SA to officially present the next step in autonomous driving technology, marking a significant development eight years after the CityMobil2 program. The European SHOW program will showcase the latest generation of technology for autonomous driving, made possible through collaboration with the Research University Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (EPISEY) at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (SEMMY) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the University of Genoa (UNIGE).

The official presentation of the program will take place on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Mylos Matsopoulos, and will be part of the #Trikala2030 conference. This event is a reflection of the Municipality of Trikkaia’s commitment to the SHOW program and its belief in its potential to transform the transportation industry. It will provide an opportunity for the public to witness the groundbreaking technology firsthand.

The pilot tests for the program will begin with a route inside the Matsopoulos park and will be followed by routes on the outskirts of the city. However, these routes will only commence once all bureaucratic and licensing procedures have been completed. The program, SHared automation Operating models for Worldwide adoption (SHOW), is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research program and involves 69 partners from 13 EU countries.

Trikala’s participation in the SHOW program through e-trikala SA is a satellite pilot application that combines automated freight and passenger transport. This development is expected to have enormous technological importance and scope, and will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the future of transportation in the city and beyond.
